We are so excited to have you join us on for our wedding weekend in Solérieux, in the heart of Provence, France. Solérieux is a small town approximately 40 miles from Avignon and 20 miles from Montélimar.
All of our official wedding activities will take place at Les Domaines de Patras. The Domaine is a remodeled 17th century stone mansion set in the Provencal countryside.
The Domaine is located at these coordinates: 44.343131, 4.820648
Note that the address listed for the Domaine brings you to a closed entrance. Please use the coordinates above for your GPS to arrive at the front entrance.
We’ll be planning activities for Friday, May 4, through Sunday, May 6. We recommend a Thursday, May 3, arrival in Provence and a Monday, May 7, departure. If you can’t take too much time away, a Friday arrival or Sunday departure would also work. We do not recommend a Saturday arrival or departure.
We've included travel and housing details below. Please reach out with any questions. We’re happy to answer questions and help coordinate!
Getting There
By Train
The easiest and fastest way to come to the Domaine by train is to take the TGV—the high-speed train—to Avignon or Montélimar. From here you can rent a car at the train station.
Alternately, you can transfer at Avignon or Montélimar, to a local train to Pierrelatte. There are cabs available at the train station to bring you from the station to your accommodation. There are also local buses that run between the train station and the two town centers. You can also rent a car at the Hertz rental car, which is within walking distance, or at the Europcar, which is a 5-minute cab ride away from the station.
All train tickets can be purchased on the SNCF website: https://www.voyages-sncf.com/
By Plane
The closest airports are Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport and Marseille Provence Airport. Lyon is approximately a two-hour drive from the Domaine. Marseille is approximately 1.5 hours driving from the Domaine.
From the US
There are no direct flights from the U.S. to Lyon or Marseille. (The closest airport for direct flights is Geneva, Switzerland, which is approximately three hours and 15 minutes driving to the Domaine.) To get to Lyon or Marseille from the U.S. usually you will take an overnight flight into Europe, and transfer to a short connecting flight into your airport of choice. This means your outbound flight will leave the evening before you want to arrive.
Early May is just before high season for the South of France, so it's possible to get flights for around $700 round trip if you buy them early. If you wait, they will likely be around $1000 round trip.
Once you get to the airport, you will either need to rent a car and drive to the Domaine—you will likely want a car, or to know someone with a car to get around at the wedding—OR you can take a train from the airport. See "By Train" above.
From Lebanon
If you're coming from Lebanon, you may already be familiar with Lyon ;) but you can also fly into Marseille. The shortest flights from Beirut usually leave early morning and transfer through Paris or Frankfurt to a short connecting flight into your airport of choice. This means your outbound flight will usually be the same day as the day that you want to arrive.
Tickets are currently available for around $500 round trip.

Getting Around
Solérieux is in the countryside of France, so we recommend arranging a vehicle to get to and from wedding activities, and to be free to do some exploring on your own!
You can rent a car at the Lyon and Marseille airports, or the train stations at Avignon, Montélimar and Pierrelatte. We recommend renting a car in advance of your arrival. We've had good experience renting from AutoEurope, although there are several other rental options.
For those people who prefer not to drive, there are plenty of cabs available in the area. You can get one at the train station when you arrive, and your hotel or bed and breakfast can help you find them easily.
Also, we encourage you to take advantage of the Wedding Facebook Event to organize ride shares. We will also be creating a WhatsApp group a few weeks before the wedding so that it is easy to share rides to and from wedding events.
We will be providing shuttle service the night of the wedding. We will not be providing transport Friday or Sunday. Boyer Taxi is in the area if you do not have another transportation option on Friday or Sunday.
Where to stay
We have selected a few small hotels and bed and breakfasts in the area that have very good reviews and are within 15 minutes driving distance of the venue. We will provide transportation to and from the wedding on Saturday to each of the four locations listed below.
The two larger hotels—Hotel Sévigné and Le Clair de Plume—are located in a small, beautiful town called Grignan, which is home to a castle that dates back to the 11th century. If you prefer to not have a car during your stay, we would recommend staying in Grignan for easier access to restaurants and other amenities. La Bastide de Grignan is a 15-minute walk outside of Grignan. Le Moulin de Montsegur is in the countryside, but a closer drive to the venue.
Often you will get the best available rate by booking directly with the hotels, rather than through third-party booking sites. Early May is considered low- or mid-season for most hotels in the area, so please make sure that you are getting the appropriate rate.
Some of the venues have offered discounts for wedding invitees. See below for more details.
